Homeboy Industries
Homeboy Industries and the Homegirl Café were founded by Father Gregory Boyle, a Jesuit pastor based in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, to bring positive change to a community plagued by poverty and gang violence. Young men and women are trained in the industries of silkscreen production and restaurant operations (cooking, retail). Today, Homeboy Industries is the largest and most distinguished gang prevention program in the country. Park Studio participants visited the Homeboy Industries headquarters to learn about the program and witness how the combination of the arts (silkscreen, culinary arts) and innovation works to save lives. www.homeboy-industries.org
