Foundations of the silkscreen workshop with artist John E. Miner

John E. Miner

John E. Miner introduced students to the foundations of the silkscreen process and the basics of stenciling. Looking at examples of Miner’s work allowed students to better understand the layering and breakdown of the graphics necessary in the creation of serigraphs. Students made small stencil works by tracing and cutting with X-Acto knives onto mylar sheets. They then spray painted their stencils onto paper.

John E. Miner studied silkscreen techniques under the tutelage of Richard S. Duardo. He is also an adjunct professor at Pasadena City College where he teaches graphic design and silkscreening.
